J. Randall Smith
It was about three
years ago that J. Randall Smith discovered his signature style. One of his pieces was accidentally knocked
off of its pedestal at a gallery. He
gathered the shards; decided he would raku the pieces, and reassembled
them. He deemed this process “Kraku”.
Each bronze piece is
replicated from the original Kraku pottery art, with an exciting twist to the
traditional bronze technique. No two
pieces will be the same as J. Randall Smith will direct each piece in the
final stages of patina. As in his
method of Kraku, he employs different patinas to the “reconstructed”
bronze. It is something new that the
foundry has not ever approached.
