This collection of
new paintings builds on a fusion of ideas:
a personal bringing together of past and present. Having grown up and been educated in the
Middle East, I am particularly drawn to Arabic letter forms. This graceful alphabet grew from its
primitive roots into the art form of calligraphy.
In these paintings,
characters symbolizing my beginnings, form the first layers, the
foundation. This is then overlaid with
the symbols of the southwest, my current home. The impact of these two ancient
civilizations is thus represented in my art.
